23andMe DNA Test Kit Service Options

23andMe® offers several service options to choose from. All services require submitting a saliva sample using our saliva collection kit that you send to our lab for analysis.

You should choose the service option that’s right for you:

  • The Ancestry Service includes features to explore how your DNA connects you to other people. For example, if you choose to participate in the DNA Relatives feature, we can compare your DNA to other 23andMe customers, find your genetic matches, and estimate how closely you are related.
  • The Premium Ancestry membership is our ancestry-focused service, including Ancestry Reports, DNA Relatives, Traits, and advanced features like Historical Matches, Reconstructed Ancestors, DNA Relatives Clustering, Advanced DNA Comparison, and more. Does not include health reports.

Premium Ancestry

Premium Ancestry is only available to customers who purchased the EU version. Our Premium Ancestry membership is our ancestry-focused service and includes:

  • Ancestry Reports (Ancestry Composition, Haplogroups, and Neanderthal). 
  • DNA Relatives feature. 
  • Traits Reports. 
  • Historical Matches: see if you share DNA with ancient or historical individuals whose genomes have been sequenced.
  • Reconstructed Ancestors: piece together the ancestry of your ancestors using DNA segments shared among your relatives, without needing direct DNA samples from them.
  • Distant Genetic Groups: explore your connections to distant populations.
  • DNA Relatives Clustering: automatically group your DNA Relatives based on how they're genetically related to each other, creating a visual map of your family network.
  • Advanced DNA Comparison: see the exact location of the DNA you share in common with another 23andMe customer.
  • Raw, uninterpreted genetic data file* (Must not be used for medical or diagnostic purposes). Learn more about Raw Data.
